How do I sign up?
We want everyone wearing club kit to be safe, to be great ambassadors for women’s cycling and to preserve our excellent reputation out on the road. So, we ask all new joiners to attend a New Joiners session, whatever their previous experience.
Attending this means that, not only do you get to meet other women joining the club, but it gives us an opportunity to ensure all members ride to an agreed standard and are familiar with our etiquette and group riding style. We make sure you know commonly used hand signals and other vital safety elements like being able to eat and drink on the bike as well as how to ride in a small, tight group. We will also make you familiar with when to single up and when to ride in pairs. Ideally you should also know how to change a puncture as we expect all members to be self-sufficient and independent on the road. Again, we can help with this.
New Joiners sessions usually take place in Richmond Park and are run by a club coach at our cost. If possible and depending on the weather and mix in the group, we will try and take a short group ride outside the park to put the skills learned into practice. We may give feedback to participants after the course and advise what kind of speed group they should be aiming to join or whether they may need to be a little quicker to comfortably join our group rides. In order to sign up to one of our New Joiner sessions you must sign up to Stack Team App. Please follow the instructions here and ask to join the new joiners group.
Taster sessions…
After you have attended our New Joiner session you may go on one group ride before deciding whether or not BellaVelo is the club for you. After this you will be invited to take out a subscription which can be paid monthly or annually.
Membership
Currently costs £36 per annum and is via direct debit. All funds raised by the club are spent on activities which will benefit all members.
